Mind Training Retreat – Sunday 7 June to Saturday 13 June

by TBS information | Apr 26, 2026 | Latest News, Uncategorised

Sunday 7 June to Saturday 13 June

“Meditate on the great kindness of all” –  Geshe Chekawa, Mind Training in Seven Points

There is nothing more useful we can do with our life than to develop our kindness. The minds of love and compassion heal us, dispel our fears and bring meaning into everything we do.

The Mind Training, or lojong, tradition is a supreme method for developing our good heart. It belongs to one of the most precious teaching lineages in Tibetan Buddhism. It focusses on the pure bodhichitta method of equalising and exchanging ourselves with others.

“When the container and the contents are filled with negativity, transform adverse conditions into the path to enlightenment”  –  Geshe Chekawa, Mind Training in Seven Points

The Mind Training teachings show how we can transform obstacles and difficulties in our practice, or in our life generally, into the causes of enlightenment. It also includes wonderful practical guidelines for daily life and for developing our positive minds.

The root text and commentary

Our reflection and meditation during the retreat will be focused on the root text, Mind Training in Seven Points, by the renowned 12th century Tibetan master Geshe Chekawa.  We will use the translation of this holy text made by the Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, supported by Geshe Loden’s authoritative commentary in Chapter 19 of his renowned lam rim text, Path to Enlightenment in Tibetan Buddhism.

The retreat will be led by Martin Horan. Martin is a long time student of the Society’s Spiritual Head, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden.

RETREAT INFORMATION

Anyone is welcome to attend this retreat.

There will be six meditation sessions each day. The first session will commence at 7am on Sunday 7 June, and the retreat will finish after lunch on Saturday 13 June.

The retreat will be held on-site at the Tibetan Buddhist Society in Yuroke.  The centre, known as the Peaceful Land of Joy, is set in beautiful 10 acre gardens.
