The path to knowing and making sense of this world

Introduction series: 1.30 – 3 pm from Sunday 26 April

The timeless wisdom of the Buddha’s teachings provides a foundation for engaging in the world in ways that provide clarity and hope.

In this 5-week introductory series with Angela Scherma, through discussions and meditation, we will explore  ancient teachings such as impermanence, patience, kindness, compassion and the meaning of great love.

Based on the book, Essence of the Path to Enlightenment by the centre’s founder and renowned scholar, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, a range of subjects will be discussed that provide insight into the nature of our mind. Each week different meditative practices will be used to enhance learning.

  • Explore the genuine Tibetan Buddhist tradition made relevant to a modern audience, based on highly authoritative and ageless wisdom
  • Follow the course text – Geshe Loden’s remarkable work, Essence of the Path to Enlightenment

Inner development through knowledge and practice

Path to Enlightenment series: 4 – 5.30 pm from Sunday 26 April

The current Path to Enlightenment program with Chris begins with an examination of negative approaches called delusions, reflections on death and rebirth, then turning to the Twelve Links of Dependent Arising.

These teachings explore how experiences arise through interdependence, offering insight into habitual patterns, how they can be understood and gradually released.

From mid April, the focus moves to the Great Scope, with teachings on the path to liberation and entering the great path. This stage explores motivation beyond personal concerns, towards a more profound and altruistic aim in spiritual practice.

The second half of the series explains ‘How to Develop Bodhichitta’, the compassionate aspiration to benefit all beings. Attendees will learn about the sources of bodhichitta, how to cultivate this mindset, recognise progress, and practise bodhichitta in the context of the Bodhisattva vows.
