The Resident Teacher of Tara Institute, Venerable Geshe Lobsang Dorje Doga, will bestow the White Tara Long Life empowerment at 10 am* on Saturday 17 May in the magnificent traditional Tibetan temple in Yuroke. You can register here.
White Tara

White Tara is a beautiful, female, fully enlightened buddha, who’s practice supports a long and healthy life. You don’t need to be a Buddhist, or to have any specific belief system, to attend the ceremony and to receive the blessings of Long-Life White Tara. For those who are Buddhist and wish to do the long-life practices, taking the empowerment is an important first step. We receive blessings merely by attending, and we take the actual empowerment when we follow Geshe Doga’s instructions on the different meditations during the ceremony.
Our founder, Venerable Geshe Loden considered this empowerment so valuable, he gave it every year.
Venerable Geshe Lobsang Dorje Doga
It is a peerless great honour that Venerable Geshe Doga (pictured below) has accepted the Society’s invitation to give this invaluable initiation in the serene and special atmosphere of the centre’s traditional Tibetan temple.

Venerable Geshe Lobsang Dorje Doga was born in July 1935 in a small village called Khanze, situated in a valley in the remote Kham region of North-East Tibet. He arrived in Australia on 1 January 1983, having been invited by Lama Yeshe to become the resident teacher at Atisha Centre near Bendigo.
Geshe Doga became resident teacher at Tara Institute in September 1984. His first teachings were from Shantideva’s “Guide to a Bodhisattva’s Way of Life” and “Lo Rig” or mind and its functions.
Long-time friend of the centre’s founder Geshe Loden
This empowerment offers a marvellous chance to spend some time with such a highly-accomplished and treasured lama.
Geshe Loden always praised Geshe Doga’s qualities, and was very appreciative of his kindness and friendship to Geshe Loden and the Tibetan Buddhist Society over many years.
They were born in a similar area in eastern Tibet, though different decades. Along with many other monks and Tibetans, they made the journey to India following His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s departure from Tibet in 1959. Both maintained their intensive Dharma studies.
